Maria Sharapova is not just a successful and extremely talented tennis player, but she has also proved her fashion skills as collaborative designer for Cole Haan's spring/summer 2011 collection. This is not Maria's first collaboration with the brand since their first Sporting line was launched in spring 2009.
Tennis ace Maria Sharapova is not only the collaborative designer for the Cole Haan spring/summer 2011 collection, but also the spokesmodel in the campaign. Beautiful Maria got involved in the design process, therefore the new line is a unique combination of timeless elements with modern, trendy ones. In fact, this is the perfect reflection of Sharapova's "on-the-go lifestyle." Speaking about the collection, Maria Sharapova says on the Cole Haan site that she got involved throughout the entire creative process and "work closely with the design team from start to finish – from initial sketches to choosing materials and color to naming the styles to seeing the final products."
As for the spring/summer 2011 collection, the 23-year-old top tennis player says it was inspired by her travels. And now she probably has much more experience since this is not the first season she teams up with Cole Haan. About her fall 2009 collection, Sharapova said that "this is a project I have been dreaming about. I love design so designing a line of handbag and shoes has been a dream of mine ever since I was young. It really represents my every day, I can be on the plane, coming off a press conference and I need to have accessories that really match my lifestyle."
James Seuss, Cole Haan Chief Executive Officer, said that "Maria Sharapova embodies the blend of fashion and sport that makes Cole Haan Sporting unique."
The Cole Haan spring/summer 2011 ad campaign features Maria Sharapova wearing a cute tutu dress and strappy high-heeled sandals surrounded by beautiful Cole Haan accessories. Besides Sharapova, the campaign also included songwriter and producer Theophilus London, artist Kate Neckel and the entrepreneurs behind culture magazine "Dossier", design studio "Bureau V" and "Bamboo Bike Studio". The photos in the campaign were made by photographer Koto Bolofo in New York and Sarasota. In November 2010, at the 14th Annual ACE Awards, the Accessories Council honored Cole Haan and Maria Sharapova with the Brand Collaboration Award.
